George Benson Interview

I recently came across an excellent interview recorded by KJZZ with George Benson. It’s about an hour long and he pretty much talks about everything – how he got started, what it was like playing with many of the greats (Wes Montgomery, Tal Farlow, etc…), and his newest record, a collaboration with Al Jareau. He’s a great storyteller. This is a must listen!

  2. hi george i feel like i know you cause i’ve covered a few of your songs when i was on the road in the 70’s and 80’s , i really enjoyed playing them. i play a lot of classical guitar now but i have just recently discovered you on youtube and i am wanting to play some of your solos again, so i’m teaching them to my students, they love em. i’ve never seen them so excited, you know they ask me who is the best soloist and i tell them first there was charlie parker and then there is george benson.

  3. And as the story goes George Benson turned out to be the greatest guitar player of all time!!!!!

  4. Hey,am a 14year old girl from Kenya.I love George Benson’s music, his feeling, his speed, his improvisation…i love the guitar,i play a few jazz tunes taught by my father and use of guitar pro program. I love the guitar,it would be an honour to have the opportunity to learn the instrument inside out-to be able to improvise beautifully,to identify a chord, note or interval just by hearing it and to anticipate a corresponding chord…everything i can…sadly, here,we do not have good institutions that teach the above and suppose we did,my parents could not afford.I seek a schorlaship to be able to persue my dream(MOST OUTSTANDING FEMALE JAZZ GUITARIST). My friends say that my ambition is just but a dream but if you love something you should go for it nomatter what!I love music,i love the guitar,it is my forte now and forever!
